MLS® Laser Therapy Chiropractor Pompano Beach

In all industries, it seems as though technology and investment in technology are pivotal for those who want to stay with the times. Over the years, many companies have been left behind in their niches because they failed to embrace new technological developments as they came. For us, as chiropractors, the story is no different.

Of course, we have a number of patients relying on us to provide the best possible chiropractic experience…which is why we’re so excited to introduce you to our new robotic Multiwave Locked System (MLS) Therapy Laser. As this guide is going to explain, MLS® Laser therapy is extremely useful for dealing with;

  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Arthritis & Bursitis
  • Backache/Sciatica
  • Brachial Neuralgia
  • Disc Herniation
  • Epicondylitis
  • Heel, Ankle and Foot Pain
  • Hip
  • Knee Pain
  • Lumbar Pain
  • Neck and Back Pain
  • Occupational Injuries
  • Post Surgical Swelling
  • Sports Injuries
  • Strains and Sprains
  • Stenosis
  • Tendonitis

What is MLS Laser Therapy? How does it work? These are exactly the sort of questions we’re going to be answering below.

What’s MLS® Laser Therapy?

Perhaps the most obvious question regarding MLS Laser Therapy is…well, what is it? Standing for Multi-Wave Locked System, MLS Laser Therapy is a non-invasive solution designed to manage pain by utilizing low-level laser therapy. Due to its effectiveness in reducing pain and decreasing inflammation, the most common use for MLS therapy is for sciatica and arthritis. Interestingly, this technique has actually been used throughout much of Europe for a number of years. More recently, it has moved into veterinary care and chiropractic care.

Sometimes known as ‘cold laser therapy’ (when utilized in certain scenarios), MLS has been the subject of much attention in recent years and this is set to continue in the years ahead. Why? Beyond anecdotes and the success stories of those who have had the treatment, there’s no scientific evidence to suggest the efficacy of the treatment.

For us, we believe in the therapy and are joined by many others in this school of thought. Considering it’s a non-invasive technique, it can be administered with little risk and the rewards can be fantastic. Above all else, many have been able to see a noticeable reduction in both pain and inflammation after various health concerns.

At Appleton Chiropractic Center in Pompano Beach, Florida, we’ll use two ‘therapeutic’ wavelengths: 905 nanometers (analgesic) and 808 nanometers (anti-endemic and anti-inflammatory). With this, we can get deep within the tissues and nerves that are causing pain, discomfort, and inflammation. After a metabolic reaction in the cells, this not only relieves the body of pain but also encourages healing.

Expert Analysis – Dr. Phil Harrington, who gained his experience at Palmer College of Chiropractic, has stated that all laser therapies essentially have the same aim and a similar process to get there. Firstly, the aim is to stimulate the cytochrome oxidase enzyme (this allows for the utilization of oxygen in the respiratory chain). With the inside of the mitochondria as the key location for this, that individual cell receives more ATP. No matter what cell this is, its function is now boosted. Ultimately, this isn’t anything the body can’t do on its own. However, lasers facilitate the process and help cells to function as they should.

If you got a little lost in this analysis, just know that lasers aren’t designed to do anything out of the ordinary. Instead, their aim is actually to help cells resume their normal function. For some reason, the cell has stopped working as expected and lasers attempt to fix the problem.

How Does MLS Laser Therapy Work?

Using high-quality Class 4 lasers, the aim of MLS Laser Therapy will be just as we’ve seen; to effectively jump-start the body’s healing process via the mitochondria within the cells. If you’ve never had laser treatment before, the laser itself is similar to those found in a simple laser pointer. Elsewhere in the medical world, lasers can be found with tattoo removal and various other dermatological processes. However, the big difference between these and MLS Laser Therapy is that the latter is designed to cover a larger surface area. Covering a larger range, the laser can spread into the tissues of the body and generate positive results this way.

By combining two wavelengths, MLS lasers can offer pain relief alongside anti-inflammatory action. Once the session has ended, the patient should experience improved circulation and this is important for blood and oxygen to reach the pained area. Over time, the blood flow encourages tissue healing, healthy tissue growth, and cell repair.

As mentioned previously, MLS Laser Therapy has a number of uses including for those with hip and knee pain, bursitis, tendonitis, stenosis, lumbar pain, and sciatica.

Does MLS Laser Therapy Yield Positive Results?

Now we’ve explained just how it works and with which health conditions it can help, the next question would be whether it actually brings positive results. At the moment, we aren’t in a position to provide lots of research showing the efficacy of MLS Laser Therapy. Although there are lots of medical experts and patients speaking positively about the solution, there isn’t quite enough research to provide solid evidence.

What does this mean? Well, contrary to many misconceptions, this doesn’t mean there’s any proof to suggest anything against this type of treatment. Instead, it just means that there haven’t been enough studies…and there are reasons for this. At the moment, there are some obstacles for low-level laser therapy (LLLT) research.

Obstacles for LLLT Research – Unfortunately, the biggest issue preventing extensive research on LLLT as a valid treatment is the varying standard of care. Rather than having one fixed method of treatment, both the dosage and wavelength differ depending on its use which means that all studies on LLLT solutions will also be different. With this in mind, studies can only draw conclusions based on one particular delivery method rather than on MLS Laser Therapy or LLLT solutions as a whole.

This being said, we do know that those suffering from neck pain can benefit from low-level laser therapy. When combined with an exercise program and other lifestyle adjustments, the results can enhance even further. According to one particular study, they noted that LLLT isn’t likely to have a fixed standard of care because pain can be experienced in different ways and in it can manifest in different locations. For example, treating a neck and back will require different wavelengths and dosages. Despite this, the study concluded that LLLT ‘may be’ beneficial for relieving pain (no matter how this pain is caused!).

Before moving on to the next section, we should develop the point that MLS Laser Therapy has a positive reputation with patients. Of course, at Appleton Chiropractic Center, we wouldn’t introduce a treatment of this kind if there was evidence that patients were overwhelmingly disappointed with the results. Fortunately, this isn’t the case and one survey suggested positive results of low-level laser therapy on people with rheumatoid arthritis.

How Much Does MLS Laser Therapy Cost?

This is the big question, right? At Appleton Chiropractic Center, we always aim to keep our treatments as affordable as possible because we believe everybody should be able to benefit from our service. The first thing we should note is that both K laser therapy and MLS Laser Therapy are FDA-approved and this is important. Although not approved as pain-relieving treatments, K lasers are accepted as a warming device while MLS is currently considered an experimental solution.

Pompano Beach Chiropractor, Dr. Phillip Appleton, charges a reasonable amount per session and we believe this is a great price considering the benefits it can bring. Already, we’ve helped plenty of people who had previously suffered from hip pain, back pain, neck pain, and more ever since their younger days in school. Despite trying different techniques, they didn’t have any success comparable to MLS Laser Therapy. Even after just one session, we’ve had patients who walked away feeling relief from pain and improved mobility.

While introducing MLS Laser Therapy, we assessed the local market and found some services charging double what is charged at Appleton Chiropractic Center. During your research, you’re likely to see a number of different prices depending on your location and the treatment plan for your condition. For the more serious conditions and longer-lasting health problems, more sessions are likely to be needed.

If you aren’t sure or want to learn more about pricing, feel free to call Appleton Chiropractic Center. As well as answering questions about pricing, they’ll also discuss any concerns you may have while telling you more about MLS Robotic Laser therapy.

Benefits of Choosing MLS Laser Therapy

To continue this guide, we want to explain some simple benefits of choosing MLS Laser Therapy. This way, you’re in a better position to know whether this is the right solution for your health problem.

Non-Invasive Treatment – First and foremost, as we’ve already seen, this is a laser treatment which means there are no needles, no knives, and no extended courses of medication. For most, they don’t feel pain during the treatment; it just comes with a slight warming sensation. Not only does this mean less pain for you, but it also means a reduced recovery time.

No Side Effects – So far, there are also no known side effects which are always beneficial with chiropractic care. With more invasive procedures, you’ll have to deal with the large recovery times and, during this time, the potential of discomfort, infection, and limited mobility.

Works with Different Types of Pain – Since MLS Laser Therapy targets the cells as opposed to specific body parts, it can be a universal treatment option for a whole host of medical problems. We believe this laser to be helpful for anybody with sciatica, arthritis, hip and knee pain, brachial neuralgia, stenosis, sprains and strains, bursitis, tendonitis, neck pain, and even lumbar pain.

Quick Treatment – With MLS Laser Therapy, another point we haven’t yet mentioned is the speed at which it can be performed. Rather than sitting for hours and feeling uncomfortable, this treatment method can be achieved inside 30 minutes. For most, they leave our building and are able to continue their day as normal. Of course, the warming sensation may still be present but this will soon disappear.

During a typical treatment plan, you’ll pop into our fantastic chiropractic facility and leave soon after to carry on your day. There’s no large investment in time, and it doesn’t have to be a huge inconvenience just to get started.

Affordable – Finally, in terms of logistics, MLS Laser Therapy is also affordable for most. Rather than having to spend out and take huge risks, Appleton Chiropractic offers an affordable solution and this severely reduces the risk of trying this type of treatment in the first place.

Improved Bodily Function – Choosing MLS Laser Therapy will lead to many benefits for your body too, and we’re going to break them down below.

  • Anti-Inflammatory – Known as an anti-edema effect, this essentially means MLS Laser Therapy doesn’t cause swelling. Causing ‘vasodilation’, the blood vessels dilate and the lymphatic drainage system is also activated which means all swollen areas will be drained. Where inflammation or bruising occurs, swelling should be reduced.
  • Vascular Activity – In damaged tissue, laser light will encourage the production of capillaries which means the healing process gets faster. As well as scar tissue reducing, wounds should also close a little quicker. As a side note, it’s believed angiogenesis can accelerate which leads to temporary vasodilation.
  • Metabolic Activity – For blood cells, MLS Laser Therapy can increase oxygen, specific enzymes, and food particle loads.
  • Nerve Function – When damaged tissue has nerve functions that aren’t recovering efficiently, this can cause numbness in the limbs. With laser lights, nerve cell reconnection is sped up and the process of muscle healing is improved.
  • Analgesic – Interestingly, the nerve cells benefit from MLS Laser Therapy so much that pain transmitted from these cells is blocked. Suddenly, nerve sensitivity is decreased; less pain and edema will also result from the decreased inflammation.
  • Immunoregulation – Just when you think lasers have enough of an effect on our bodies, they can also stimulate lymphocytes and immunoglobulins to improve our immunity.

Reviews for MLS Laser Therapy

Throughout this guide, we’ve mentioned that a lack of official research is holding MLS Laser Therapy back somewhat. However, this doesn’t mean we don’t have reviews of patients. With a simple search online, you’ll find scores of people who have benefitted from MLS Laser Therapy and it’s certainly interesting to read their stories.

Melanie McManus from Runner’s World – According to Melanie, she had been trying months for ways to resolve her Plantar Fasciitis since it was severely affecting her running exploits. Rather than running, she resorted to swimming and cycling for her exercise but really wanted to be running. After a number of months, Melanie explains that she tried a night boot, stretching, ice, anti-inflammatories, orthotics, reflexology, massaging, and active-release techniques.

After two shots of cortisone in the heel and still not seeing any results, she eventually heard of low-level laser therapy. In the very first session, she felt improvements and noted the lack of pain…but decided to be cautious since it could have been the placebo effect. On day two, Melanie spent 90 minutes on the elliptical machine without experiencing any pain. In the second week, she did a five-mile run and this increased over time – with reduced flaring after and minimal discomfort during. After five appointments, Melanie was back outside enjoying running regularly and this is fantastic to hear.

Herald & Review – In the news publication Herald & Review, they’ve also had positive words to say about MLS Laser Therapy after publishing a piece on a resident named Barb. Originally suffering from shoulder pain after undergoing a complete shoulder replacement, she decided to try MLS. According to her husband, he had been helping his wife put on her sweater for well over a year but this changed after MLS Laser Therapy. Suddenly, she was able to do simple tasks again whether it was washing the dishes or sitting comfortably for long periods. As an added touch, he notes how Barb regularly forgets to take her pain medication and perhaps this is the biggest compliment of all regarding MLS.

Will MLS Laser Therapy Work for Me?

With all of the information we’ve provided so far, the next question to follow would be ‘should I try MLS Laser Therapy?’ and this is a question we receive often. Before anything else, we’d like to clarify the concern that many have and give you a final answer on the matter once and for all; just because the scientific evidence is lacking, this doesn’t mean the treatment is ineffective. Some of the most effective surgical techniques and non-invasive procedures once had little scientific backing, before then getting investment and numerous studies.

Instead of panicking and living with unnecessary pain, we recommend proceeding with a little caution. Before trying new treatments, feel free to have a conversation and also know that we will always welcome your call at Appleton Chiropractic Center. If ever you have any questions or concerns, just dial our number and one of our professionals will help wherever possible.

When treatment begins, it’s important to listen to the response of your body. Ultimately, MLS Laser Therapy treatment plans can differ and it’s important to find the one that suits your needs. While some will have a weekly session over a period of six weeks, others may require a more intense plan to deal with long-lasting health issues.

As we’ve discussed previously, it’s rare for people to experience side effects after MLS Laser Therapy since the procedure is non-invasive and isn’t designed to cause any damage to the upper layers of skin.

Is MLS Laser Therapy a viable solution for you? Unfortunately, this is an impossible question for us (or any other online guide) to answer since we don’t know your health condition, the problems you’re experiencing, what is causing the issues, etc. However, what we can say is that MLS Laser Therapy has helped thousands of people in the past and is likely to continue along this path in the future. For sciatica, foot pain, shoulder pain, arthritis, and many other health problems, MLS Laser Therapy has the potential to reduce pain, reduce inflammation, and help you on the road to recovery.

To get the ball rolling, we recommend having a conversation with your doctor. Especially if they’ve been suggesting a number of solutions without being able to help properly, it could be time to think outside the box and take control of your own health. In most cases, doctors will give the go-ahead to try MLS Laser Therapy because there aren’t huge side effects that come with it. Therefore, it can be performed by a reliable and professional specialist without interfering with other solutions.

Whether you’re reading this for yourself, or perhaps you have a loved one dealing with constant pain and discomfort, there’s no harm in asking and we’re always available to take your call. Doctor Phillip Appleton has extensive experience in the chiropractic industry and this is extremely helpful when it comes to introducing MLS Laser Therapy to our list of services.
